Description

The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support will give you the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred assistance to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or other reasons. This course emphasises on the role of workers in the community and/or in a residential setting, who follow an individualised plan to meet various support needs.

This area of work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Along with theoretical knowledge, you will have the factual, technical and procedural know-how of the concepts and practices required to work as a support worker.

Practical Placement

120 work placement hours (in a Residential Care or community Care Setting)
Students must have the current National Police Check prior to the commencement of their work placement (National Police Check)

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course, however students are required to undertake the Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment and Pre -Training Review. This will assist to determine candidate’s suitability and relevance for the course and identification of any support required.

Career Start Eligibility for General Training Pathways

To access a subsidised training place under Career Start, a student must meet the following criteria:

  • Be aged 15 years or older
  • Not be a school student
  • Permanently reside in Queensland
  • Be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen
  • Not already have a certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count)
  • Not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count)

This fee can be paid by an employer, a family member, a friend, or another organisation or a third party unrelated to the RTO but cannot be paid or waived by the RTO (whether directly or indirectly), unless approved in writing by the Department. The fee amount represents the total cost to the student, including any enrolment charges (e.g. ID card fees), tuition, services and materials fees, and all other mandatory costs related to delivering training, assessment, and awarding the Qualification. This also includes costs such as criminal history checks, where required for Vocational placement or employment in certain occupations.
